Wheel Stripper

Wheel stripping tanks should be manufactured from 304 stainless steel. It is possible to use polypropylene or high density polyethylene, but these materials will restrict the maximum temperature at which the stripper can be run. The tank should be lidded to prevent evaporation, lagged to prevent heat loss and equipped with some means of thermostatically controlled heating. If the heating system is properly designed then it should not be necessary to include agitation in the tank. Biostrip wheel stripper needs to be heated to 60C or above for fast removal of paint. Stripping time depends on temperature -

the hotter the tank the faster it strips. Expect a typical non German wheel to take around 2 hours, a German OEM wheel around 4 hours. A very few wheels may need overnight stripping, but this will be rare. Biostrip Wheelstrip does not attack the alloy wheel, and hence wheels can be left in for extended periods if necessary e.g. for economy run at lower temperatures and strip overnight.

Once the wheel has been stripped, it should be power washed to remove residual paint stripper, which, if left on, will adversely affect subsequent paint. Whilst Biostrip wheel stripper gives an excellent performance on most substrates, loads whould never be mixed in the strip tank, ie. only strip alloy wheels with other alloy wheels, never with steel wheels.
